「合意は守られなければならない（Pacta sunt servanda）」というラテン語の格言を見てみよう。現在の政府と路線が異なる過去の政府が約束したものなので守ることはできないという論理は「下之下策」だ。日本の右翼は「それでも国か」と批判し、さらに命脈を維持してきた日本国内の少数の知韓派知識人までも離脱させたのは文在寅（ムン・ジェイン）政権の責任だ。
柳成龍（リュ・ソンリョン）の『懲毖録』によると、朝鮮初期の「現実主義外交の達人」と呼ばれた申叔舟（シン・スクジュ）が1475年に落命する際、成宗が都承旨を派遣して「卿が私に最後に残す遺言は何か」と尋ねた。申叔舟は「日本と対立しないでほしい（不失和日本）」という言葉を残して目を閉じた。壬辰倭乱（文禄・慶長の役）を100年余り先にした時期だった。・・・」
