Mitja Nikisch was the son of the celebrated Hungarian orchestral conductor Arthur Nikisch and the Belgian singer and composer Amélie Nikisch.・・・

He was on summer holiday in northern Italy when he was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer. He had recently fallen in love with a woman from Moscow, Alexandra Mironova. She was twelve years his junior and was a well-known soubrette in Berlin’s Schillertheater under the pseudonym Barbara Diu. Mitja called her Barbara as he did not like her Russian name. The two were planning to get married when his diagnosis of cancer came. Knowing he did not have long left to live, he feverishly began to compose a piano concerto. He dedicated several hours a day to his magnum opus as his illness released enormous amounts of energy. On Wednesday, August 5, 1936, Nikisch finished the concerto and died at age 37. Barbara was in London on business when her fiancé passed away. The handwritten score she found upon her return to Venice was a recollection of an all-too-brief life, and Nikisch dedicated it to his wife.
He had been married to and divorced from stage and film actress Nora Gregor.

–映画評論66：風立ちぬ–
１ 始めに
昨日朝、TVで表記

を放映することを知り、録画しようと思いつつそれを忘れ、開始時間の21:00が15分も過ぎた時、思い出し、リアルタイムで鑑賞することにした。
毎週金曜夜は、パソコン部屋を掃除する日なので、ベッドメイキングも含め、その全てをコマーシャルの時にぶつ切りで完了することができたが、就寝時間は大幅に遅れ、しかも、軽い興奮状態で寝つきが悪いこと夥しかった。
２ 評論
（1）この放映を契機とする諸評論
力作の評論だと思う。
引用部分についての私の異論を後述。↓
「宮崎駿監督は、編集者・音楽評論家の渋谷陽一が『風立ちぬ』について「この映画は、戦争が大きなテーマになっているんですけども」と問うたのに対して、「戦争そのものじゃないですけどね。モダニズムですよね」と答えている。この「モダニズム」は『風立ちぬ』を理解する上で重要なキーワードだ。『風立ちぬ』は「モダニズム」を接点にして、『坂の上の雲』（司馬遼太郎）や宮崎自身の監督作である『もののけ姫』と繋がっている。・・・
二郎が愛した奈穂子が結核で死ぬのもまた「避けられない出来事」として描かれる。奈穂子はプロポーズを受ける段階から既に自分の命が短いことを自覚している。「人生には選択肢などなく（あっても大差なく）、人生はそこで精一杯生きることしかできない」という、決定論を前提としたある種の諦観が本作の根底にある。
どうして『風立ちぬ』はこれほどまでに決定論的なのか。それはこの映画がやはり「近代化」が主題だからなのである。・・・」

（2）私の評論
ア 序
このアニメ映画の客観的テーマは、政府の死へのオマージュ、選良へのオマージュ、アメリカニズム批判、の、（政府の死へのオマージュを核心とする）三位一体である、というのが私見であり、以下、それぞれについて簡単に説明する。
「客観的」と付けたのは、宮崎駿が「主観的」にどう思っているか、例えば、本当に「モダニズム」、ないし、評論者によるその「パラフレイズ」であるところの、「近代化」、がテーマだと思っているかどうかは私の関心外だ、という趣旨だ。
イ 政府の死へのオマージュ
日本の歴史は、政府と人民との間で、よりピンポイントで言えば中央政府、は人間主義的統治を行うもの、との信頼関係が確立し維持されてきた歴史であったわけだが、先の大戦に至る戦前史において、日本政府が人間主義的統治の全世界での確立を目指した結果、表見的には短期的に日本国内で非人間主義的統治を行ったが、人民はこれを中央政府の背信行為と捉え、中央政府を（最初は形式的に、後には実質的にも）廃絶してしまったところ、この政府の死へのオマージュが本作品の核心的テーマである、ということ。
ウ 選良へのオマージュ
中央政府の廃絶は、必然的に選良の消滅をもたらす。

エ アメリカニズム批判
作中に登場する日本人の人物の多くは、独仏語を何かというと用い、独語でリートを唱和したりもするが、英語は一切登場しない。（映画）
また、登場する外国人は独伊人で、やはり米国人は含まれていない。（映画）
これは、戦後日本の米属国化に伴うアメリカニズム一辺倒、の風潮への異議申し立てである、ということ。
これも、アの系。
オ 結論
もっぱら堀越二郎の事績が描かれることから、堀越二郎の世界が前面に出て堀辰雄の世界が霞んでしまい、しかも、この二つの世界がうまく融合されていない、という意味では失敗作。
しかし、日本の戦前の世界に若干なりとも土地勘を持っている者、や、ほろ苦い青春時代を生きた者、にとっては、懐旧の情が、美しいアニメ映像と音楽によって否応なしに掻き立てられる、という意味では成功作。
