　オレクシイ・アレストビッチは、ゼレンスキー大統領の顧問であるにもかかわらず、得たいの知れないなぞの多い人物だとされている。ブロガー、俳優、政治および軍事コラムニストで、ロシアによるウクライナへの侵攻以降、大統領府顧問として戦況報告を毎日行っている。なぜブロガーが戦況報告を大統領にしているのか理由は定かではない。
アレストビッチの名前が有名になったのは、ロシアのウクライナ侵攻を公の場で予測していたからだ。2019年、ゼレンスキーが大統領選挙に勝利する少し前、彼はウクライナの放送局のインタビューで、ロシアの侵攻がどのようなものになるか詳細に説明した。
国境からのロシア軍の侵攻、ドネツクとルハンスクへの侵攻、キエフの包囲、クリミア経由のロシア軍の移動、クリミアに水を供給するためのカホフカ貯水池の奪取。さらに、ベラルーシ領からの攻撃、新たな「人民共和国」の設置、重要インフラへの攻撃、落下傘部隊の活用のような大きな戦争になると述べ、2022年を最も可能性の高い年とした。
そしてこのインタビューでは、この戦争がNATOの長期的な計画の一部であるようなニュアンスを匂わせた。NATOには、紛争地域になっている国は加盟できないという規定がある。そのためウクライナがNATOに加盟するためには、戦争でロシアを敗退させ、紛争がない状態を作るしかない。そのためにはロシアと本格的な戦争が必要だという。
NATO内部からウクライナをモニターしてきたジャック・ボーは、2022年前後にロシア軍の侵攻をいわば予言したアレストビッチの発言を、NATOにはウクライナを加盟させる長期的な計画がある証拠だとしている。
