　コラム#3226「世界経済危機と中共」（未公開）で紹介した、マーティン・ジャックのコラムに対する批判投稿がガーディアンに載っていました。

　たまたま、（この投稿が言うように中共にはソフトパワーがないかもしれないが、）米国の準ハードパワーたる経済力を支えるハードたる工業製品は壊滅状況ではないか、というスペングラー・コラムがアジアタイムスに出ていました。

　ダーバン反人種差別見直し国連会議（Durban anti-racism review conference） の顛末について、ガーディアンが詳しくとりあげています。
　今回は、前回、南アフリカのダーバンで開かれたものの見直し会議ととして、ジュネーブで開催されました。
　開催された４月20日という日は、たまたま、イスラエルのホロコースト記念日であり、かつヒットラーの誕生日でした。

　しかし、この会議を、米、加、イスラエル、伊、独、ポーランド、オランダ等半ダース以上の諸国がボイコットしました。

　８年前のダーバンでの会議の時には、シオニズムを人種差別主義と同一視した決議が採択されたために、米国とイスラエルが怒って同会議を退席したという経緯があります。
　ところが、今回の会議でも、準備された決議案に、イスラエルを名指ししたり、宗教批判の自由を認めないような記述があったのです。
　しかも、反イスラエル的言動を繰り返してきたイランのアフマディネジャド大統領が、首脳クラスとしては唯一人、この会議に出席することになっていました。
　だから、これら諸国は、この会議をボイコットしたのです。
　仏英は、出席することにしたのですが、イランの大統領が、不適切な発言を行ったら、他のEU諸国とともに、議場から一斉退場することにしていました。

　イランの大統領は、案の定、下掲のような激しいイスラエル批判演説を行いました。

　Ahmadinejad traced the history of racism in the modern world to the control of a few powerful states and string-pulling Zionists behind them. “Following world war two, [powerful states] resorted to military aggression to make an entire nation homeless, on the pretext of Jewish suffering and the ambiguous and dubious question of the Holocaust …. and they helped bring to power the most cruel and repressive racists in Palestine,” he said.・・・
　こういうわけで、英仏等は、あらかじめの打ち合わせ通り、退場したのです。

　たびたびで恐縮ですが、このように国連は全体としても、また、最も重要な機関である安保理においても、自由民主主義に反する国是を掲げる諸国が過半を占め、あるいは拒否権を握っているのですから、日本が国連中心主義を掲げるなど、（日本が「独立」した暁にはなおさら、）自殺行為以外の何物でもないのですよ。
　ところで、この会議の時、日本はどうしたのかな。
　日本の主要紙の電子版の関係記事を読むのをさぼりましたが・・。
　昨年、ニッカの「余市1987」がシングルモルト・ウィスキーで世界一、サントリーの「響」がブレンド・ウィスキーで世界一になっていたんですね。その結果、両社のウィスキーの輸出が急速に増えているのだそうです。知らなかったな。

　私は、スコッチの里（グレンファークラスの工場。英国防大学の英国内ツアーで訪問）もニッカの里（海上自衛隊の基地訪問のついでにニッカの工場を見学）も知っているけど、感慨無量です。
　ホント、日本の民間の技術力や匠の力はすごい。
　それに引きかえ、これまた耳タコでしょうが、日本の政治はひどすぎます。
　トルコが、４月初旬にストラスブールで開かれたNATO首脳会議で大ミソをつけて、そのEU加入の可能性を完全につぶしてしまった、というコラムが出てました。
　・・・At a NATO summit in Strasbourg in the first week of April, it had been considered a formality that the alliance would vote to confirm Anders Fogh Rasmussen, the prime minister of Denmark, as its new secretary-general. But very suddenly, the Turkish delegation threatened to veto the appointment. The grounds of Turkey’s opposition were highly significant. Most important, they had to do with the publication of some cartoons in a Danish newspaper in 2005 lampooning the Prophet Mohammed. In spite of an organized campaign of violence and boycott against his country, and in spite of a demand by a delegation of ambassadors from supposedly “Islamic” states, Rasmussen consistently maintained that Danish law did not allow him to interfere with the Danish press. Years later, resentment at this position led Turkey–which is under its own constitution not an “Islamic” country–to use the occasion of a NATO meeting to try again to interfere with the internal affairs of a member state.
　The second ground of Turkey’s objection is also worth noting. From Danish soil a TV station broadcasts in the Kurdish language to Kurds in Turkey and elsewhere. The government in Ankara, which evidently believes that all European governments are as untrammeled as itself, brusquely insists that Denmark do what it would do and simply shut the transmitter down. Once again unclear on the concepts of the open society and the rule of law–if the station is sympathetic to terrorism, as Ankara alleges, there are procedures to be followed–the Turkish authorities attempt a fiat that simply demands that others do as they say. ・・・
　Turkey wants all the privileges of NATO and EU membership but also wishes to continue occupying Cyprus, denying Kurdish rights, and lying about the Armenian genocide. ・・・
　Obama’s “quiet diplomacy” has temporarily conciliated the Turks while perhaps permanently alienating the French and has made it more, rather than less, likely that the American goal of Turkish EU membership will now never be reached.・・・

　げにイスラム教は恐ろしい。
　トルコのようなイスラム教世俗化の旗手たる社会さえ、腐食させてしまうのですね。
　任天堂のWii Fitが米国を席巻した結果、肩や膝を痛める人が続出しているのだそうです。

The complementary Wii Fit exercise program has been nearly as popular, with more than 6.5 million sold since its introduction last May. ・・・
　これに伴い、二種類の怪我をする人が出てきたというのです。すなわち、

　子供達より大人達の怪我の方が多いといいます。
　Dr. Halpern said the shorter attention spans of younger children were probably preventing them from developing overuse injuries, describing their exposure to a variety of Wii games as “cross-training without even thinking about it.” Sore-shouldered and gimpy-kneed adults could be victims of their better focus, but also of their innate competitiveness. ・・・

　日本の民間がすごいもう一つの例ですね。
　米国人のライフスタイルがウィーによって変わったのですから・・。
　緯度が低い、つまりは赤道に近い地域ほど、生まれる男女比で、女子の割合が多くなる、という事実が明らかになりました。（それでもなお、男子が生まれる割合の方が多い。）
　ハムスター、ネズミやメドー・ハタネズミ（meadow vole）も、日照時間が短くなったり、気候が寒くなると、オスが生まれる割合が増えるといいます。
　　その原因は、まだ解明されていません。
