　40年位前、大学生の頃、御徒町の中田商会でボロボロに穴のあいたU.S. Armyの戦闘服を購入して数年間ほど普段着にしていた事を思い出しました。
　何故か兵士の怨念みたいなものに興味があったのです。
　処で＜太田さん＞、ハードウェア・トロイの木馬　#3612（2009.10.29）に記述された「kill switches=殺人スイッチ」という訳語に関して少し蛇の足の裏をさせていただきます。
　【killswitch】とは固有名詞でもありまして、平たく言えば「緊急停止」の仕組みです。

　例えばモータースポーツに於いて、アクシデントにより競技車両が操縦不能に陥り、更なる暴走や発火爆発等の危険が予測される場合に、車両のバッテリー回路とエンジン制御回路を繋ぐ配線を強制的に遮断するスイッチの事です。
　このスイッチは車内に有って運転者が操作出来るのみならず、運転者が失神等している場合などでも外部から操作できる様に、エクステンションした取手が車外にも装備されます。
　モータスポーツがポピュラーな米国では人口に膾炙した用語であると推測できます。

　元記事の【kill switches】には、「ハードウエアの機能を外部から強制的に停止させるスイッチ」という意味が「殺人スイッチ」と共に掛けられていると思います。
