http://www.asahi.com/politics/update/0415/TKY201004150462.html
<太田>

・・・By far the biggest loser of the extravaganza was the hapless and (in the opinion of some Obama administration officials) increasingly loopy Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama. He reportedly requested but got no bilat. The only consolation prize was that he got an “unofficial” meeting during Monday night’s working dinner. Maybe somewhere between the main course and dessert?
A rich man’s son, Hatoyama has impressed Obama administration officials with his unreliability on a major issue dividing Japan and the United States: the future of a Marine Corps air station in Okinawa. Hatoyama promised Obama twice that he’d solve the issue. ・・・
It is supposed to do that by May. So far, nothing has come in over the transom. Uh, Yukio, you’re supposed to be an ally, remember? Saved you countless billions with that expensive U.S. nuclear umbrella? Still buy Toyotas and such?
Meanwhile, who did give Hatoyama some love at the nuclear summit? Hu did. Yes, China’s president met privately with the Japanese prime minister on Monday.

・・・the arrangements for Bakiyev to leave were worked out earlier this week during a meeting among President Obama, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.
Bakiyev submitted his resignation and left with only his wife and two small children, members of the new Kyrgyz government said, suggesting that the deposed autocrat had dropped demands that two of his brothers suspected of involvement in the killings of his critics and in last week’s deadly shootings be allowed to go into exile as well. ・・・
Otunbayeva said her government agreed to let Bakiyev leave at the urging of international mediators to avoid further bloodshed but planned to fully investigate his tenure and demand that he be put on trial in domestic or international court.

・・・ the pilots … might have been pressured by their superiors to attempt the landing. Could it have been Kaczynski or one of the generals who forced the pilots to do so?”
”As long as it remains unclear who made the fatal decision to land in Smolensk, the decision regarding the final resting place of the president and first lady should be put off. And, in any case, it shouldn’t be in (Wawel), where Poland’s kings, national poets and saints are buried. The fact that Kaczynski died in a tragic airplane accident doesn’t make him a national hero.”
”Paying Kaczynski this respect also allows the government to pin blame for the accident on someone before the national week of mourning has ended. Moscow is saying that pilot error caused it and that (Russian air traffic controllers) had expressly and repeatedly warned the pilots not to attempt a landing in Smolensk.”
”Should Poland’s government also choose to accept this version of events, the reputation of Polish pilots would also suffer. Pilots who can’t correctly evaluate dangers present a security risk. It’s high time for the black boxes’ transcripts to be made public. We need the facts.”

・・・a hostile fight with your husband or wife isn’t just bad for your relationship. It can have a profound toll on your body. ・・・
・・・when the married people became single again ? either by divorce or because of the death of a spouse ? they suffered a decline in physical health from which they never fully recovered. These men and women had 20 percent more chronic health issues, like heart disease and diabetes, than those who were still married to their first husband or wife by middle age. The divorced and widowed also had aged less gracefully, reporting more problems going up and down stairs or walking longer distances. ・・・
Does marrying again benefit those who divorce, in terms of health? ・・・remarriage helped only a little. It seemed to heal emotional wounds: the remarried had about the same risk for depression as the continuously married. But a second marriage didn’t seem to be enough to repair the physical damage associated with marital loss. Compared with the continuously married, people in second marriages still had 12 percent more chronic health problems and 19 percent more mobility problems・・・
・・・hand-holding reduced the neural activity in areas of the woman’s brain associated with stress. But when the woman was holding her husband’s hand, the effect was even greater, and it was particularly pronounced in women who had the highest marital-happiness scores.

・・・He claimed poetry had made him a better politician: “A haiku poet, in politics, cannot be extravagant, nor super-vain, nor extremist.
”He should incorporate into his actions a sense of balance, the desire for simplicity and harmony, the feeling of being part of a larger part.”
”Airy flakes of snow/softly land on the branches/Beauty in layers.” ・・・ “To dine at leisure/flooded in bright sunlight:/the perfect summer.”・・・
