＞皆さんの「私の考えを形作った本」、教えて！＜（太田）
　マキアヴェッリ著『君主論』。
　政治とは如何なるものかを教えてくれた一冊です。
　現代日本に向けて書かれていると錯覚してしまうような記述もあり、マキアベッリの論述の鋭さと相まって、首筋に刃物を突き付けられているようなプレッシャー（恐怖）を感じたことを覚えています。
　サイモン・シン著『暗号解読』の一節で、量子論と出会ってしまったことも大きいですね。
　真理（現代物理学）を常識的世界観で理解することが出来ないことは、私を大いに絶望させてくれました。
　量子論との出会いが、私にとって幸福だったのかあるいは不幸だったのか、難しいところです。
＜太田＞
　マキアヴェッリの『君主論』については、私が、東大の佐々木教授の論文を引用しつつ、この本が後にファシズムをもたらしたのであって、ヒットラーこそ理想の「君主」であったと指摘した、「マキアヴェッリとヒットラー」シリーズ（コラム#568、569、571）があるので、お読みいただけると幸いです。
　それでは、記事の紹介です。
　エレナ・ケーガン（1960年～。ユダヤ系。プリンストン大学、同大学の優等生としてご褒美でオックスフォード大学留学、更にハーバード・ロースクール卒。同スクール教授、学長を経てオバマ政権の訟務長官（solicitor general）の米最高裁判事指名に伴い、連日、米国の主要メディアは彼女がらみの記事を掲載しています。
　彼女が判事に任命されると、９人の判事の中に、ワスプが一人もいなくなり、プロテスタントも一人もいなくなり、６人がカトリックで、３人がユダヤ教徒になるってさ。↓

　これは、1960年代以降のワスプの米国での支配的地位からの下降の行き着いた先だというわけ。（ニューズウィーク上掲）
　19世紀末から1960年代まで、アイビーリーグの諸有名大学は、社会的ダーウィニズムに基づき、米国をアングロサクソンが支配するのは当然だと考えていて、黒人やユダヤ人や女性を差別してきたのであり、ちょっと前まではプリンストンがユダヤ人で女性のケーガンを入学させることなど考えられなかったんだな。↓
　This was especially true at the colleges and universities that had long acted as gatekeepers to power and social prestige.
　In the late 19th century, Harvard and Yale were bastions of social Darwinism. Their scholars believed that the rule of the Anglo-Saxon “race” (the word was used loosely then) was a matter not only of destiny but science. 　何度でも繰り返す。
　米国はつい最近まで人種主義的帝国主義という精神疾患に罹った連中が牛耳ってきた国であり、現在もなお、その後遺症としての帝国主義国として、過去に患者として犯した過ちの尻ぬぐいに逐われている国なんだぜ。
　人種主義を遅ればせながら克服しつつある米国は、アタマが問題になる職業分野ではメリトクラシーが貫徹するようになったが、その結果、（ケーガンが判事に就任すれば）９人の最高裁判事の全員がハーバードかエールのロースクール卒ということになってしまったとよ。↓

　次に今度はもう一人の女性最高裁判事が引退すると、同判事の中から母親たる判事がいなくなるって先走りした話が出てた。↓

　The fertility rate for American women, when broken down according to education, is lowest for those with post-graduate degrees and highest for those with no high school diploma. And in a 2003 international survey of 100 men and 100 women in top jobs at 10 major U.S.-based corporations, 74 percent of female executives had a spouse or partner who was employed full time; among men, 75 percent had a spouse or partner who was not employed at all. ・・・
　If Kagan is confirmed, the number of women on the Supreme Court will hit that “change threshold” of 33 percent for the first time in its history・・・

　↑メリトクラシーが貫徹しても、「合理的」理由から女性差別、とりわけ母親差別は残るってワケだ。（ここでは引用しなかったが、子供ができるとどうしても女性は仕事に専念できなくなる部分があるからねえ。）
　だからこそ、どんなにススんだ社会においても、ある種アファーマティブ・アクションが女性に対しては必要だ、ということになりそうだ。

　現在の中共の経済体制は日本型経済体制だと「中共の「資本主義」」シリーズ（未公開）で書いたばかり（コラム#4001も参照）だけど、既にそういう説あったのね。↓

　なお、この記事↑、中共の上級共産党員（赤電話組、約300人）に相当する各国のインナーサークルとして、日本の東大法学部閥、フランスのエナ（Ecole Nationale d’Administration） 閥（Les Enarques）（コラム#1284）、米国のエール大学のスカル・アンド・ボーンズ（Skull and Bones）（コラム#305）、そしてインドのGymkhana Club、をあげている。
　東大法学部閥については、ご丁寧に安田講堂（?!）の写真まで載っけてるけど、人数多すぎるし、互いに何の紐帯もないんであって、ひでえ勘違いだよ。
