　ボディビルコンテストでドーピングチェックが行われているのは、あくまでも一部のアマチュア大会(ミスター日本など)だけで、プロは今も昔も使い放題です。
　年に１度開かれるIFBB Mr.Olympiaというプロの最高峰の大会で、1990年代にたった一度だけ例外的にドーピングチェックが行われた事がありましたが、それとて厳格に実施されたものではなかったことが当時疑問視されていましたし、その翌年からはぷっつり行われなくなりました。
　今のトップビルダーは長年にわたる大量の薬物投与に耐えきるだけの強靭な内臓を生まれ持っていることが絶対条件になっているので、有望と思えた選手が突然臓器疾患で引退したり、突然死したりするケースはプロレスと並んで他のスポーツより目立つように思います。

　アナボリックステロイド使用サイクルなどの具体的なドーピングの話題はネットでも目にすることはありますが、遺伝子ドーピングというのはこの業界でもまだぜんぜん未来の話ですよ。
