　ドイツ再統一後の初めての国勢調査（?!）の結果が公表され、ドイツの人口が見積もりより150万人少ない、8020万人であること等が分かったって。

2 comparison of colonies
Previous Japanese colonies・・Korea and Taiwan・・are both enjoying high living standard and liberal democracy.
Compare these with the previous American colony Philippine’s not terribly savory situation.
Also compare this with previous British colony India’s poverty, even when forgetting the recurrent famines which killed millions of Indians under the Raj.
(Hong Kong and Singapore are city states with huge hinterlands.)
Aren’t these facts telling something about the quality of the Japanese colonial rule?
