　「ところが執政党（中国共産党）は、天安門事件と東欧の共産主義国家の崩壊で大きな衝撃を受けました。民主化運動は鎮圧したが、人々の信認や支持を失った。社会主義や共産主義も含めて（統治の）合法性に極めて重大な挑戦を受けた。中国社会の核となる『信仰』が真空となり、それを埋めようと（当時の最高実力者）鄧小平・・・が、歴史の物語を変えたのです」
――どんなふうに。
　「人民による階級闘争ではなく、国家と国家、民族と民族の闘争に勝ち抜いたのが共産党である、と。その中核をなすのは、共産党がなければ国は独立できず、再び外国からばかにされ、分裂してしまう、という点です。歴史は勝利者から被害者の物語に変わり、中国の人々と国家が戦争で受けた苦難や血なまぐさい暴力が強調され始めました。そして、この物語に基づいた愛国主義教育運動を始めました。愛国とはいえ、愛党運動です」
――日本からみると、日本を標的にした反日運動・教育にみえます。
　「違います。天安門事件に最も反対し制裁していたのは米国や欧州です。日本も加わりはしたが、それほど厳しくなかった。西側諸国で最初に制裁を解除したのも日本だし、中米関係の回復を推進させる一定の役割も果たした。愛国主義教育を反日教育というのは単純化しすぎです」
⇒標的たることを日本は受け容れるだろうとのヨミの下に日本だけを標的にして国内の引き締めを行ったんだよ。但し、経済体制について、日本化を進展させながらだ。（太田）
　「ただ、不幸なことに歴史を振り返ると、日本は、中国の『国恥』のもっとも重要な部分を占めます。孫中山（孫文）や蒋介石時代からそうです。日本は中国を最も傷つけた国です。仕方がありません。・・・
――反日映画・ドラマでナショナリズムをあおっているのでは。
　「中国では、ナショナリズムが巨大な商業的価値を持っています。中国政府が反日映画やドラマを作るよう制作会社に強く推奨しているというよりも、もうかるから作っているのだと思います。それに中国では、腐敗や政府批判、国民党や中華民国、古代の宮廷や皇帝、皇后などの番組を作ろうとすると、触れてはならない内容が多くある。それに比べて反日ものはとても安全なのです」

　「中国人の歴史の物語が日本人の態度に影響を与え、同様に、日本人の態度が中国人の歴史の記憶を一段と刺激しています。相互作用の関係があります」
――というと。
　「80年代までのほうが戦争を経験した人は多かったにもかかわらず、中国人が日本を受け入れられたのは当時の日本政府や人々が非常に友好的だったからでもあります。中国の人々も日本から経済発展の経験を学びたい気持ちが明確にありました」
　「2000年以降、中日関係に新たな変化がうまれました。中国の日本経済への依存度が落ち、人々の間に（優越的な意識を伴う）ナショナリズムが高まってきたのです。中国政府にとって、ナショナリズムは国家の凝集力として人々を団結させることに有利に働きます」・・・
　「中国以外からは、中国外交は強硬で覇権的だと厳しく批判されています。しかし、中国の人々は正反対で、軟弱すぎる、と言っている。国内政治と外交の求めとの間に矛盾が生じている。たとえば、南シナ海の問題は国際社会の支持をほとんど得られていないが、国民の要求は強い。・・・
⇒話は全く逆であり、当局は、経済面以外でも日本化に着手し、日本礼賛洗脳に乗り出したというのが実態。（太田）
　「反日感情は過去の問題からくるのに対し、反米感情は、米国を中国復興の障害とみるところからきています。米国は中国を嫌っていて発展を阻止しようとしている、と。・・・」
